The year was 1903.
The industriously-poetic Anthony Carbone, heir to the wine culture of Avellino, Italy, set out to make his fortune in the burgeoning markets of the American West. Carbone & Company obtained the first wine & liquor license in Colorado following the repeal of prohibition in 1933. The Carbone Brand of wine was a Colorado staple through world wars and recessions, and A. Carbone & Company became the largest distributor of fine wines and spirits in the American West. |
